Le Musée Departémental a treasure house
for cultural riches of the region.
The Domaine de Charance a 17th century house built on
the ruins of a medieval castle set in a 500 acre park with lakes and terraced
gardens.
Le Conservatoire Botanique houses over 300 species of flora and also the world's largest collection of old roses.
Outdoors the 'Parc National des Ecrins' is an unspoilt wilderness where some 2500 species can be found.
The landscape around Gap is varied ranging from alpine peaks of 10,000ft to mountain pasture.
There are plenty of trails to walk such as the Sundials Trail which takes you through the foothills of the Alps, through the valleys and hillside lined with vines and orchards.
